Sun Microsystems chief Jonathan Schwartz may be the first major CEO to publicly announce his resignation with a Haiku — and on Twitter, no less.
But the 44-year-old tech titan didn’t exactly pass his poetry test with flying colors. Critics slammed Schwart’s handiwork on his blog, the only such blog run by a Fortune 500 CEO.
Schwartz today posted the Twitter goodbye to his $11 million-a-year job, just days after the completion of Sun’s $7.4 billion merger with Larry Ellison’s Oracle. Obviously, there wasn’t room at the top for both personalities.
Financial crisis
Stalled too many customers
CEO no more.
One blogger sniped,”If doesn’t mention or involve a season it is not a Haiku…”
Others attacked his performance: “Schwartz drove Sun into the ground. Why would anyone listen to someone that destroyed a $14B in three years. I guess compared to Wall St, he did a great job…”
