Ticketmaster has filed a $10 million suit against a major scalper accused of using illegal technology to scoop up loads of tickets to hot shows like the Broadway smash hit ”Hamilton.”
Prestige Entertainment is accused in Los Angeles federal court papers of using bot software to scoop up tickets the instant they became available to various shows, including the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight in Las Vegas in 2015.
Ticketmaster is accusing the company of copyright infringement and violating terms of use, in addition to fraud, breach of contract, and violations of state and federal computer abuse laws.
The suit is also asking a judge to bar the company from using the bots on any Ticketmaster platform.
Prestige Entertainment did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
