The Tribune Company yesterday announced the appointment of Peter Liguori as chief executive officer.

Liguori most recently served as chief operating officer of Discovery Communications. Before joining Discovery in 2009, he served as chairman of entertainment for the Fox Broadcasting Company.

The Tribune’s publishing division includes the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, The Baltimore Sun, Orlando Sentinel and the Hartford Courant.
