Dear John: My problem is not getting my requested refund of $818.18 from the New York City Department of Finance. This is for overpayment of property tax.

I sent in the proper forms in Dec. 2017. I received no reply, so I refiled the forms two weeks ago. Still no answer.

It seems like the city doesn’t want to part with any money once they have it. I am enclosing copies of the request forms.

Since I’m a 94-year-old World War II veteran, the city is probably waiting for me to die so they won’t have to refund the money.

Please try to resolve this for me, as the Department of Finance just ignores my requests. AF

Dear AF: If they were waiting for you to die, they lost.

I sent your forms to the city, and the check was sent to you within days. And you confirmed receiving it.

Let’s just say the application fell through the cracks and I helped seal that crack. Enjoy your dough!
