Two former Galleon Group employees are expected to plead guilty Wednesday in a widespread insider-trading investigation, a person familiar with the matter said.

Adam Smith and Michael Cardillo, both former Galleon employees, are expected to plead guilty at separate hearings Wednesday in US District Court in Manhattan, the person said.

Earlier this week, The Wall Street Journal reported that Morgan Stanley banker Kamal Ahmed was being investigated by prosecutors for allegedly leaking information that was relayed to Galleon Group hedge fund founder Raj Rajaratnam about a 2006 merger involving Advanced Micro Devices Inc.

Last week, Danielle Chiesi, a former consultant to hedge fund firm New Castle Funds LLC pleaded guilty to three conspiracy counts related to the Galleon Group case.
