Bloomberg L.P.’s chief content officer, Norm Pearlstine, has poached a rising star from his old stomping ground, tapping Josh Tyrangiel of Time to run BusinessWeek.

Tyrangiel, 37, was managing editor of Time.com and a deputy managing editor of the magazine. He had been flagged as a potential successor to Managing Editor Richard Stengel.

He believes he was hired for his ability to navigate between old and new media.

“It’s a unique moment in media,” Tyrangiel told The Post. “You have the BusinessWeek culture and the Bloomberg culture and you have to give birth to a new culture. The future has to be an integration of those two.”

As one Time Inc. source said of the talent raid, “This definitely heats things up.”
