Hollywood is hot and bothered.

After a heated bidding war, Universal Pictures has landed the movie rights for the “Fifty Shades of Grey” trilogy — the kinky book series that is topping bestseller lists.

Universal said yesterday it acquired the film rights to the titillating novels, while Focus Features will handle marketing and distribution.

The studio didn’t disclose the purchase price, but Deadline Hollywood reported that the trilogy likely fetched north of $3 million.

“Fifty Shades of Grey” and two more novels, “Fifty Shades Darker” and “Fifty Shades Freed,” follow the X-rated adventures of 21-year-old college student Anastasia Steele and her twisted billionaire boyfriend Christian Grey.

Written by E.L. James, the series, dubbed “mommy porn,” started out as fan fiction for the “Twilight” crowd before breaking into the big time.
