Dear John: I recently experienced a disheartening situation with Vivid Seats. I purchased two tickets to a John Mayer concert on July 25 at Madison Square Garden.
The tickets cost $634.74, and I also purchased the insurance for an additional $38.95.
When my friend and I went to the concert I was told by the main ticket scanner that my tickets were already scanned, and therefore invalid.
When I called Vivid Seats to discuss this situation, I was only offered a nominal credit for $140 towards a future ticket purchase. Repeatedly I called and was treated as though I was making a false claim.
When I called the ticket insurance company (Allianz) they said I could not be reimbursed because I could not prove that I had not attended the concert.
So, after three conversations with a “supervisor” at Vivid Seats, I have gotten absolutely nowhere and deserve to be completely refunded.
This type of treatment is unacceptable. C.N.
Dear C.N.: It certainly isn’t good for Vivid Seats or the insurance company’s business.
I got you a full refund.
Apparently Vivid Seats decided you weren’t scamming it after I discussed it with my contact there.
But, really, nearly $700 for John Mayer tickets! You could have taken a cruise and listened to him on your record player. (That’s a Joe Biden joke.)
Enjoy the refund.
