Looking for a deal on a kitchen mixer, some breakfast cereal or toothpaste?

Well, if you have a choice between shopping on Walmart’s site or with Jet.com, its recently acquired e-commerce unit that used to pride itself on beating all rivals on price, the better deals are not a “Jet” ride away.

A small basketful of items for sale on Thursday was clearly priced higher on Jet.com.

A box of 54 Tide pods with Febreze costs $21.56 at Jet.com, or 20 percent more than on Walmart’s site.

A value pack of three tubes of Colgate whitening toothpaste costs $6.61 at Jet.com, or 10 percent more than at Walmart.com.

A Sunbeam mixer priced at $32.80 on Jet.com was 12 percent more expensive than at Walmart.com.

Both sites charged the same for shipping.

“Jet.com did get big by offering better prices, and we are still giving good prices,” said Jet.com spokeswoman Meredith Klein. “But our customers are coming to us for a premium assortment as well.”

Klein did not comment on why Jet prices were sometimes more expensive.

To be sure, on some items Jet.com offers price parity, like a bottle of Johnson’s baby shampoo that costs $5.96 on both sites.
