Warner Bros. Entertainment, the Time Warner Inc. studio that made “The Dark Knight,” is asking its departments to cut their budgets by at least 10 percent, according to people in the company who are familiar with the plans.

The cuts, if realized, could mean layoffs of more than 100 employees.

The Time Warner employees disclosed the plans to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the matter.

Analysts said a cut of that magnitude would result in tens of millions of dollars in annual savings for Time Warner, which has been buffeted by a slowdown in the advertising market, especially at its AOL Internet unit and Time Inc. family of magazines.

Warner Bros. execs have been looking at proposals from all units including its theatrical, home video, television production, and consumer products groups.
