The Weinstein Co. will concentrate on its struggling movie business and shift is book-publishing business into a joint venture with Perseus Books Group.

The arrangement, to take effect Dec. 1, will allow the unit of private equity firm Perseus LLC to publish titles under contract with Weinstein Books.

The deal follows a similar one by Peresus with Beast Books, a joint venture with Tina Brown’s Daily Beast Web site.
