FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif. — The Wet Seal Inc. said Friday that its ticker symbol will change next week.

The retailer’s trading symbol for its class A common stock listed on the NASDAQ Global Select Market will change to “WTSL” effective Monday from “WTSLA.”

Wet Seal said that the change was intended to streamline its ticker symbol by dropping the extra character associated with its class A common stock, creating a four-letter symbol that is more common for NASDAQ-listed companies.

The company, based Foothill Ranch, California, operated a total of 530 teen clothing and accessories stores across the US.
