Microsoft said it sold 257,000 Xbox 360 consoles in the US in June, leading the market for the current-generation players with a 47 percent share.

Sales in June marked the 18th straight month in which Xbox 360 sales led the US industry, Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft said yesterday in an e-mailed statement, citing data from researcher NPD Group.

US sales of Xbox players totaled 507,000 units in June 2011, NPD said then.
