Duke’s Wendell Moore was lucky to avoid serious injury on Thursday night.
Late in the first half, Moore went for a fast break dunk and was undercut by Clemson’s David Collins, coming down hard but thankfully avoiding any contact to his head.
Collins was assessed a flagrant 2 foul and ejected from the game, which Duke went on to win 82-64.
“He didn’t see himself, we saw him,” Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said. “He was parallel to the ground eight feet up in the air. That was one of the most dangerous plays I’ve ever seen, and I’m not knocking Collins, but I’ve never seen a player look like that before.”
Clemson coach Brad Brownell brought Collins over to Krzyewski for a discussion before leaving the court. In an Instagram story later on, Collins said he was going too fast to stop.
“I never have been a dirty player never will,” Collins wrote. “I wish bro a healthy season and I never tried to hurt anybody, but I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion.”

Wendell is good, at least I hope he’s good. We’ll see how he feels after the plane ride, but it’s best to move on.”
Moore finished the game with eight points and eight assists in 33 minutes as the Blue Devils cruised in Coach K’s final game at Littlejohn Coliseum.
