What looked like an everyday cry for attention at a basketball game was far grimmer in reality.
Nolan Randall Bolton rushed onto the court during Saturday’s Miami-Louisville college game in Kentucky, knocking into a cheerleader before briefly joining the Hurricanes huddle. He was then detained by police and escorted off.
According to the police account, however, Bolton, of Louisville, threatened to kill everyone in the KFC Yum Center. When apprehended and held in the back of a cop car, Bolton — celebrating his 31st birthday that day — kicked out the back window of the vehicle on his way to jail, according to the Courtier-Journal. The entirety of the window frame was knocked from the car, according to police.
Bolton, who reportedly had been warned previously not to run onto the court, is facing misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree assault, disorderly conduct, third-degree terroristic threatening, third-degree trespassing and second-degree criminal mischief.
After the game, Miami coach Jim Larranaga said he noticed “commotion” in his huddle in the first half, and when he glanced up, he saw somebody in red.
“We don’t normally wear red,” Larranaga said.
