The First Round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament begins this afternoon with a South Region matchup between two teams who lost their respective conference title games: Louisville and Creighton.

No. 8 seed Louisville (27-7) fell to eventual No. 1 seed Duke in the ACC Championship game last weekend, while No. 9 Creighton (24-10) lost the Big East title to St. John’s, who clinched a No. 2 seed in the big dance. Before the loss to Duke, Louisville had won 11 straight games; Creighton was riding a three-game win streak until St. John’s halted them.

The winner of today’s game will face the winner of No. 1 Auburn vs. No. 16 Alabama State in the second round, which begins Saturday.
