With a Sweet 16 bid on the line, St. John’s will face Arkansas in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament with rival coaches on the sidelines.

It’s the matchup they’d been waiting for: St. John’s coach Rick Pitino and Arkansas coach John Calipari, both Hall of Famers, have years of history and 23 prior matchups between them.

No. 2 St. John’s got off to a slow start against Omaha (they’ve made a habit of rallying from behind this season), but eventually cruised to a dominant 83-53 win to advance to today’s game.

Arkansas, a No. 10 seed, punched their ticket to the second round on Thursday with a closer 79-72 victory over Kansas.

St. John’s has the opportunity to advance into the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1999 with a win in this afternoon’s matchup; here’s how to tune in if you’ve cut the cable cord.
