Jordan Bohannon, who is the Iowa Hawkeyes’ all-time leader in assists and 3-pointers, was sucker-punched in an Iowa City bar on Sunday, according to the Gazette.
The 23-year-old suffered a “serious head injury” in the attack and is recovering after receiving medical attention, according to a news release from the University of Iowa.
“Thankfully Jordan is recovering well after being attacked by an individual he did not see coming at him,” Iowa men’s basketball coach Fran McCaffery said in the release. “We were made aware of the incident immediately. We are grateful that friends who were with Jordan at the time kept the incident from escalating. His health is our number one concern.”
A video circulated online that showed the attack. No charges have been filed and an investigation is ongoing, according to the report.
Bohannon is planning on returning to Iowa for a sixth season in the upcoming academic year.
