College basketball cult sensation Robbie Avila suffered what appeared to be a devastating ankle injury on the opening day of the season.
Avila, a junior, gained national attention as a fun part of last year’s Indiana State team and transferred to Saint Louis this past offseason.

During the second half of the Billikens’ game against Santa Clara in the Field of 68 Showcase, Avila came down awkwardly on his right leg and immediately collapsed to the floor.
He was ultimately helped off by members of the training crew, unable to put any weight on his right leg.
