If you had Santa Claus scheduled to sing at your basketball game, you might want to think again.

Florida State’s men’s basketball team thought it could bring some Christmas cheer to the crowd ahead of the Seminoles’ matchup against Notre Dame Wednesday night and brought Santa out to sing the “Star Spangled Banner” in order to do so.

Any sort of Christmas spirit instantly left the room as he began singing an awful rendition of the anthem with spectators cringing as it went on.

Twitter users did not enjoy Kris Kringle’s attempt at the anthem and were quick to tweet out their displeasure with the performance.

One viewer tweeted, “Absolutely disgraceful. Way to go @floridastate You should be ashamed of yourselves.”

Many others chimed in with similar jabs, but Santa himself came in to diffuse the anger, saying “Ho ho ho! 🎅 Spread the holiday cheer and let’s make sure everyone is feeling the joy of the season!”

Many among the crowd — coaches, staff, players and more — weren’t sure what to make of the performance.

If anyone is feeling the joy of the season it’s probably pop star Fergie, who may have just lost her spot for worst national anthem performance to Santa.
