St. John’s is looking at a lengthy layoff.

After its Big East opener last Thursday against Butler was called off due to COVID-19 issues with the Johnnies, their next two games have also been postponed, the league announced on Monday.

Wednesday’s home game against Marquette and Saturday’s trip to Georgetown will have to be made up or be ruled a no-contest and not played at all. Georgetown is currently in pause and dealing with its own COVID-19 situation.

Last Wednesday, Joel Soriano and Tareq Coburn joined Julian Champagnie in COVID-19 protocols. The next day, at least two more St. John’s players tested positive. On Sunday, Champagnie came out of quarantine. He still had to pass cardiac tests to return to practice.

St. John’s next scheduled game is Jan. 5 at home against DePaul. If that game is played as scheduled, it would mark the Red Storm’s first contest in 18 days.

St. John’s athletic director Mike Cragg told The Post St. John’s wouldn’t have the requisite seven healthy scholarship players for either Wednesday or Saturday. He wouldn’t comment on how many players have tested positive for COVID-19, or how often the school is testing. Cragg did say players who have tested negative are able to go through workouts with the coaching staff, so the program isn’t pausing necessarily. On Friday, the school will reevaluate the situation and make a public announcement Jan. 3, about its next game.
