Texas A&M Corpus-Christi (+3.5) over Texas Southern: It’s appealing to take the dog in a battle between two offensively challenged squads — and it is much more likely that the Islanders will find easy points. While both teams rank among the best in the nation at hitting the offensive glass, Corpus-Christi — which is 9-3 against the spread as an underdog this season — also ranks 13th in the nation in turnovers forced per game (16.3), and should be able to get create additional scoring opportunities against a team which ranks 329th in the nation in turnovers per game (14.9). Plus, if a close game between a pair of foul-prone teams comes down to free throws, the Islanders (75 percent) are more trustworthy than the Tigers (67.1 percent).
