ABC announced the early renewal of six scripted TV series as well as the reality favorite “Dancing with the Stars,” Deadline reported Monday.

The Emmy Award-winning show “Modern Family” will return for a third season and top-rated medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy” was assured an eighth season.

Courteney Cox’s “Cougar Town,” Patricia Heaton’s comedy “The Middle,” crime drama “Castle” and medical show “Private Practice” were also renewed.

The Disney-owned network announced that “Frida” star Salma Hayek will executive produce an eight-hour mini-series based on the book “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West” — which inspired the Tony Award-winning Broadway play.

No word though if Hayek, 44, will be cast in the non-musical series.
