Accident-prone hothead actor Alec Baldwin’s sob story about a hulking garbage truck causing him to crash his wife’s car has been backed up by cops in the Hamptons, according to a report.
Baldwin, 67, got into the crash while avoiding a National Waste Services truck that was turning in front of him Monday, said East Hampton Police Department Chief Michael Sarlo in a statement first reported by TMZ.
“There were no injuries reported or summons issued and the contributing factors to the accident were found to be a reaction to an uninvolved vehicle and the slippery and wet roadway conditions,” Sarlo said.

“To avoid hitting him, I hit a tree, I hit a big, fat tree and crushed my car – my wife’s car. I crushed my wife’s car. I feel bad about that. But it’s all fine, I’m fine, and my brother’s fine,” he said.
The “30 Rock” star also offered his cucumber-confused wife Hilaria Baldwin, 41, whose car he wrecked, loving compliments in the rambling video.
The couple have seven children together and Baldwin also has a daughter, Ireland, 29, from his previous marriage to actress Kim Basinger.
