Amber’s ‘Mom’ agony
‘Teen Mom” star Amber Portwood’s daughter has been made a ward of the state.
Leah, the 2-year-old daughter of the troubled Portwood and her estranged fiance, Gary Shirley, was made a ward of the state of Indiana on Tuesday, according to radaronline.com.
Portwood, 20, and Shirley were both in the Anderson, Indiana courtroom on Tuesday for an emergency child placement hearing, where it was decided to make Leah a ward of the state.
Although Leah is currently living with Shirley, she’s deemed a “ward of the state” because her living situation is being assessed by the Indiana Dept. of Child Services (DCS), according to the report.
Portwood had a one-hour visit with Leah following the court ruling.
DCS will now monitor Portwood’s progress and will determine if Leah should remain in Shirley’s home.
Portwood can still fight for custody, according to the report.
“Teen Mom” has been a breakout hit for MTV.
