“American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest revealed that new judge Steven Tyler had never watched the show before becoming a judge, World Entertainment News Network reported Tuesday.

Appearing on “The Tonight Show” on Monday night with Tyler and his fellow judges Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez, Seacrest said, “He got to the show on the first day and he goes, ‘What do they do on this show?’ I go, ‘You’ve never seen it?’ He goes, ‘No, I’ve been busy.’”

The Aerosmith frontman confirmed the anecdote, saying, “I’ve been busy, I’m on tour.”

Tyler and Lopez were announced in September as replacements for departed judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Kara DioGuardi, who left the show after the last “Idol” season ended.

The 10th season of “American Idol” premieres Jan. 19.
