The 2024 Golden Globes announced the nominations on Monday, but one major category was missing: host.
The ceremony is fast approaching, as it’s set for Jan. 7 (at 8 p.m. on CBS), and there’s been no celeb emcee announced.
Chris Rock has declined the offer to host, along with four other A-list comedians, according to CNN.
Rock could be gun-shy after he infamously got slapped on live TV by Will Smith at the 2022 Oscars.
But comedian and “Beef” star Ali Wong also was approached and declined the gig, sources told the outlet, and Will Arnett, Sean Hayes and Jason Bateman, who co-host the podcast “SmartLess,” reportedly turned down a joint offer to host, too.
Regarding the possibility of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, who successfully co-hosted the Golden Globes four times in the past, “They would never do it (again),” a source close to Poehler and Fey told the outlet. “They’re done.”

“They would never do it again,” a source said about Fey or Poehler returning to host the Golden Globes. APThis year’s Golden Globes will likely be attended by Jennifer Aniston, Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert DeNiro, Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Natalie Portman, Selena Gomez and Emma Stone, among other big name stars. But will it be a host-less affair?
It’s possible that since the Globes will air on CBS this year, the network will tap in-house talent, such as Stephen Colbert, Taylor Tomlinson (who will host the new show “After Midnight,” filling James Cordon’s time slot) or “The Neighborhood” stars Cedric the Entertainer or Max Greenfield (but, Cedric the Entertainer hosted the announcement of the nominations, so it’s unlikely he would do two Globes-related gigs in a row).
Since the Oscars are airing on ABC, and in-house talent Jimmy Kimmel has already been named as this year’s host, this would be an unprecedented move to also helm the Globes.

Chris Rock will not be hosting the 2024 Golden Globes. ASSOCIATED PRESSThe CBS comedy “Ghosts” has also been a hit, with the end of Season 2 drawing a healthy 6.2 million viewers — but, stars Rose McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar aren’t household names.
“It’s a thankless job,” one celebrity publicist told the outlet, while another said about the gig, “It’s not worth it. There are a lot of politics. It’s not easy and it’s not fun anymore.”
Comedian Jerrod Carmichael hosted the 2023 Globes, which had a historic low viewership bringing in just 6.3 million people, according to data from Nielsen. For comparison, at the height of the pandemic, in 2021, the broadcast drew 6.9 million, while 2020 boasted 18.3 million viewers.
So, the Golden Globes need a win, but the lack of a host so close to the ceremony doesn’t seem promising.

Ali Wong reportedly doesn’t want the “thankless job,” either. WireImageIt doesn’t help that the Golden Globes come with a whiff of scandal and controversy over the lack of diversity in the Hollywood Foreign Press Association that nearly got the 2022 ceremony canceled.
The Post reached out to Rock, Wong, Arnett, Hayes and Bateman for comment.
