In 2023, #Barbenheimer ruled the globe. And in 2024, it’s ruling the Globes.
“Barbie” and “Oppenheimer,” the two movies that dominated the box office last year, are top dogs at Sunday night’s Golden Globes Awards on CBS.
Greta Gerwig’s Mattel doll flick starring Margot Robbie leads the film pack with nine nominations, including best motion picture – comedy or musical, while Christopher Nolan’s biopic of the father of the atomic bomb follows closely behind with eight, including best motion picture – drama.
Both are expected to snag Best Picture Oscar nominations.
On the TV side, HBO’s “Succession,” which aired its final season last year, is No. 1 with nine nods. And the comedies “Only Murders In The Building” and “The Bear,” both Hulu titles, are tied with five apiece.

The show, which airs Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, will be hosted by comedian Jo Koy. The starry event can also be streamed on Paramount+.
