TWO unemployed Manhattan slackers (Rob Bogue and Josh Alexander) hit the road to Montreal hoping to meet Donald Sutherland in Bruce Van Dusen’s sporadically funny, micro-budgeted indie comedy “Backseat.”

Alexander’s character, an actor, has secreted a stash of cocaine in their vehicle, while his pal is worrying about a girlfriend who wants to see other people. Other complications include a near-shootout with a motel manager and a drunken party with a stripper and a pair of geek relatives.

Running time: 80 minutes. Not rated (nudity, profanity). At the Quad, 13th Steet between Fifth and Sixth avenues.
