CBS correspondent Kim Dozier is out of the hospital and walking with a cane.
Dozier was critically injured (inset) in a bomb attack last May while traveling with a U.S. infantry unit in Baghdad and has endured about a dozen surgeries since then. Two CBS News crew men traveling with her were killed in the attack.
“I’ve learned slowly how close I came to joining my friends,” she said yesterday in a statement, referring to her co-workers who were rushing to get footage of a soldier greeting Iraqi locals just before the bomb went off.
“I’ve had a couple of setbacks, and I still face a couple of minor surgeries but overall, the prognosis is far better than the docs had hoped,” she said.
