She got down and dirty for the role — per the director’s orders.
Margot Robbie, who stars as the titular bombshell in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming “Barbie” flick, reminisced about her style over the years in an installment of Vogue’s “Life in Looks” series.
She recalled a distinct moment while filming “Once Upon a Time in … Hollywood” — which reportedly features 36 shots of feet — where director Quentin Tarantino, rumored to have a foot fetish, instructed her to not wash her soles prior to shooting a scene.
In the 2019 film about Hollywood in 1969, Robbie plays Sharon Tate, a notoriously shoe-averse actress and model who was a victim of the infamous Manson murders.
Robbie recalled a scene where her character struts into a movie theater to view herself in a feature film, kicks off her chic go-go boots and props up her tootsies on the seat in front of her.
“My feet were dirty because I’d been walking around set all day,” she said. “They stayed dirty in the movie because Quentin said, ‘Don’t. Don’t clean them.'”

The scene fueled speculation about Tarantino’s alleged foot fetish. Getty ImagesInstead, she added, Tarantino wanted them to look “real.”
Tarantino, known for his films “Pulp Fiction,” “Kill Bill” and “Django Unchained,” is rumored to have an infatuation with feet.
Viewers often get up close and personal with actors’ toes in Tarantino’s films, prompting accusations — and jokes — of the esteemed director’s so-called fetish.
“Once Upon a Time in … Hollywood” actor Brad Pitt even swiped at the director in his acceptance speech at the SAG Awards after winning for his supporting role in the film.

But when confronted about his “thing” for feet in a 2021 profile with GQ, Tarantino sighed in “disappointment.”
“I don’t take it seriously,” he said. “There’s a lot of feet in a lot of good directors’ movies. That’s just good direction.”

In the highly anticipated “Barbie,” her perfectly plastic arch prompted Tarantino feet jokes from viewers online.
On Wednesday, Vogue released images of the cover star dressed in true Mattel fashion ahead of the summer flick.
