King Charles III and Queen Camilla attended the Service of Remembrance to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of VJ Day at The National Memorial Arboretum today in Alrewas, Staffordshire, on Friday — in tears as they honored fallen soldiers.
Victory over Japan Day, or VJ Day, marks the announcement of Japan's acceptance of the Potsdam Declaration on August 15, 1945, which ended WWII on that front.

The couple was seen tearing up at the event, when film producer Yavar Abbas mentioned the King's cancer treatment during his words at the service, with the queen wiping her eyes with a tissue.

The king greeted those in attendance, and accompanied Camilla when placing flowers down for those who served in the war.

The day also included The Red Arrows flypast, similar to the Royal Air Force’s flypast at the annual Trooping the Colour in London back in June.

Kate Middleton narrated a sweet, summery new video released Wednesday on the Prince and Princess of Wales' Instagram account that celebrates the season — and is part of a seasonal series, sharp royal watchers noticed.
"It has never been more important to appreciate the value of one another, and of Mother Nature. Here’s to Summer. C." the future queen captioned the post, finishing with the "C" sign-off she often uses, the first initial of her full name, Catherine.
The video opens with bees buzzing around, followed by children can running through tall, grassy fields and going for a swim, interspersed with serene landscape shots of the great outdoors.
"As we basque in the sunlit hours, friends and families come together, playing, connecting and being present," Middleton says in the clip.
"Embracing the joy to be found in even the most fleeting of moments and shared experiences."
The Princess of Wales' voiceover ends as she imparts advice to "simply love, and be loved," with a final title card that says "Mother Nature."

The 43-year-old previously spoke with locals about beekeeping, which she called her "summer project,” on a royal trip to Scotland earlier this year.
It's a unique, beloved pastime of several members of the royal family, including King Charles — and, interestingly, Kate's ex-working royal sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, according to her Netflix series. (Markle got backlash when the show premiered earlier this year from some who said the duchess was unabashedly copying Kate's hobby.)
The mom of three began the series in May, with an episode titled SPRING. The show is planned to be a quarterly video series, celebrating the changing seasons across the UK.
In the upcoming episodes, the Princess will focus on the other two seasons – autumn and winter.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry aren’t going anywhere.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced a new deal with Netflix on Monday, Aug. 11, that will see the pair's Archewell Productions company release several new film and TV projects on the popular streamer.

However, sources told The Times that the new deal is looser than before and gives the streamer first-dibs to say yes or no to projects, but is also worth far less for the royals than their previous $100 million agreement.
