Meghan Markle reacts to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's engagement

Meghan Markle is royally pleased for Taylor Swift.

While the Duchess of Sussex was busy promoting Season 2 of her Netflix show, "With Love, Meghan," she took the time to react to another major story in the news — Swift's engagement.

The pop star announced on Tuesday that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce popped the question.

Markle double-tapped Swift and Kelce's joint Instagram post, giving a heart to the newly-engaged couple.

"Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” Swift captioned the photos of Kelce down on one knee.

Meanwhile, during Season 2 of Markle's lifestyle series, she spoke about her own love story with Prince Harry.

In the third episode of the show, the "Suits" alum chatted with celeb guest Tan France and shared who said those three little words first.

Markle revealed that the Duke of Sussex was the first to say “I love you."

The Duchess reminisced about coming to the realization she loved Harry during the pair’s week-long safari trip to Botswana in 2016.

"Yes, that was on our third date,” Markle recounted.

“You fell in love on your first date?” the “Next in Fashion” host asked.

“We met in Botswana and we camped for five days together,” Markle said. “You really get to know each other when you’re in a little tent together and it’s like – what is that outside the tent?”

“That’s an elephant. Are we going to be safe? Yeah, you’re safe. OK,” she added.

France then asked Markle to clarify who said the “L word” first.

“He told me,” the mom of two confessed.

“Oh that’s nice. You’re starting to blush, I’ll stop this line of questioning,” France quipped.

Meghan Markle recalls 'inauthentic' royal rule she had to follow

The Duchess of Sussex is reflecting on her time as a royal.

Megan Markle opened up about one royal duty in particular that she could do without while on "The Circuit with Emily Chang" on Tuesday.

"Is there an inherent tension in trying to be relatable while also being a duchess?" Chang asked.

"No, I don't find — I'm just being myself. So I think, probably, it was different several years ago where I couldn't be as vocal," the "Suits" alum admitted. "I had to wear nude pantyhose all the time."

Markle added about the custom, "Let's be honest, that was not very myself. I hadn't seen pantyhose since the '80s, when they came in the little egg? That felt a little bit inauthentic, but that's a silly example."

"But it is an example of when you're able to dress the way you wanna dress and you're able to say the things that are true and you're able to show up in the space really organically and authentically, that's being comfortable in your own skin. And that's, of course, had different chapters in my life," she explained. "But right now, no, I don't feel, I don't feel that I need to prove anything."

Markle previously opened up about dressing to "blend in"  during her 2022 docuseries "Harry & Meghan."

"Most of the time that I was in the U.K., I rarely wore color. There was thought in that," she shared in the doc. "To my understanding, you could never wear the same color as Her Majesty if there's a group event, but then you also shouldn't be wearing the same color as one of the other more senior members of the family."

"So I was like, 'Well, what's a color that they'll probably never wear?' Camel, beige, white," Markle continued. "So I wore a lot of muted tones, but it was also so I could just blend in. I'm not trying to stand out here. There was no version of me joining this family and me not doing everything I could to fit in. I don't want to embarrass the family."

Meghan Markle addresses her legal last name

By Whitney Vasquez

Meghan Markle is setting the record straight on her last name.

The "Suits" alum confirmed she legally changed her last name after tying the knot with Prince Harry in 2018.

While on Tuesday's episode of "The Circuit with Emily Chang," Meghan revealed she is officially Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. She shares the family name with her kids, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4.

Meghan's maiden name is Markle, but her current moniker sparked debate earlier this year.

The subject became a hot topic after a conversation she had with friend Mindy Kaling on Season one of her Netflix series “With Love, Meghan.”

“It’s so funny that you keep saying ‘Meghan Markle.’ You know I’m Sussex now,” Meghan told the “Mindy Project” star.

Shortly after, Meghan was referred to as “Meghan Sussex” during her interview on “The Drew Barrymore Show."

While on Tuesday's show, Chang pressed on, "Give me a tutorial on royal naming conventions. So like, are you Meghan Sussex? Are you Meghan, Duchess of Sussex? Is Markle even on your passport anymore? Is it, we don't use that term anymore?"

"Well, when I got married, I changed my name. But it's a complicated one for people to understand, because a last name is not typical in that construct," Meghan responded.

Chang then inquired, "I think we expect a last name. But is that a last name or is that—?"

"It's not, but it's, it's used roughly, or loosely, rather. It sounds so silly to say. And I get it, because I'm American and then I went there and I started to understand. But then you come back and as an American, you go, ‘I'm so confused,'" Meghan teased. "It’s a dukedom."

"A dukedom," Chang repeated. "That's a new word for me."

"It's a dukedom. So, that's the truth of it. But at the end of the day, you know, yes. My legal name is Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, but Sussex for us works as our family name and it's the name that we share with our children," Meghan explained.

"But yes, since we've been married, that's what I've been called," she added.

Chang also asked the duchess what she's learned about herself "since becoming Sussex," to which she answered, "Well, interesting. What I learned about myself is no matter what my name is or what people call me, I'm still the same person."

"So that didn't really, that didn't change who I am. And maybe that's probably the biggest distinguishing factor."

Markle captioned an Instagram carousel, “In 2015, I adopted a beagle from a dog rescue in Canada. He had been at a kill shelter in Kentucky and given a few days to live. I swooped him up….and fell in love.”

“They referred to him as ‘the little guy’ because he was so small and frail,” the Duchess adde. “[S]o I named him ‘Guy’. And he was the best guy any girl could have asked for.”

Reflecting on that time, she added, “If you followed me on instagram back in the day, you saw a lot of him – and on The Tig too. He was with me at Suits, when I got engaged, (and then married), when I became a mom….he was with me for everything: the quiet, the chaos, the calm, the comfort.”

“He endured a terrible accident shortly before I moved to the UK which had him undergoing surgeries for several months and unable to leave the clinic,” Meghan continued.

“Doctors said he would never walk again, but Dr Noel Fitzpatrick said he could do it.”

Markle recalled, “H and I would drive late at night, after hours, to see Guy as he recovered in Surrey for months on end.”

“I will always be grateful to Noel and his team, the team at Queen West Animal Hospital in TO, our vets now, and my friends and community: Thank you for loving him so."

But one resident of the nearby Cranbourne Hall Residential Park is concerned for the Prince and Princess of Wales’ privacy amid the move – especially with their three young children, Prince George,12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7.

“I welcome them. But I hope the public allows them to live there quietly as a family,” Jean Reeve, 87, told the Daily Mail over the weekend. “It’s a less private spot than their previous home, from what I know about the location.”

“So I’d hate for people to always be going past and saying, ‘Oh, that’s where they live,'” the neighbor added. “They have young children after all. They deserve privacy.”
