New York Post Entertainment has all the latest news on the royal family, from Kate Middleton and Prince William to King Charles and Queen CamillaPrince Harry and Meghan Markle, and more.

King Charles III held his annual pre-Christmas luncheon Thursday — one of the royals’ many holiday traditions — with a reported 70 members of the extended family in attendance at Buckingham Palace.

Some main players skipped the festivities though: Prince William, Kate Middleton and their three kids opted out of the lunch this year, as did the king’s embattled brother, Prince Andrew — but for a completely different and more scandalous reason than the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Revealed: The surprising reason King Charles has not revealed what type of cancer he is battling

King Charles is a man of the people.

The monarch announced he was battling cancer back in February, but deliberately decided not to disclose which type he had been diagnosed with.

On Friday, The Times cited a source from Buckingham Palace who claimed that choice was grounded in empathy.

“The King’s decision not to reveal the type of cancer was a conscious choice to be able to reach out to the widest number of people who are experiencing the disease, rather than narrow the focus onto a particular form of cancer,” they stated.

Although Buckingham Palace did confirm earlier this year that the king, 76, does not have prostate cancer, Charles has not revealed any further details.

The lack of specificity has sparked widespread speculation and theories on social media, but the royal doesn’t feel pressured to share further information.

And, as he continues to battle cancer, the royal hasn’t lost his sense of humor.

Charles made a cheeky remark that he’s “still alive” when he asked about his health during a meeting with leaders from different faith communities at Waltham Forest Town Hall in the London neighborhood of Walthamstow on Friday.

‘Sulking’ Prince Andrew refuses to walk late Queen Elizabeth’s corgis amid Chinese spy scandal: report

By Sean Mandell

Pouty prince.

Prince Andrew is reportedly “sulking” and “refusing” to walk the two corgis he inherited from his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, as he faces a scandal over his connections to an alleged Chinese spy.

The disgraced duke, 64, has resorted to delegating the dog duties to “flunkies,” according to The Sun, rather than exercise the pets himself on the grounds of Royal Lodge, the massive Windsor estate his brother King Charles III has tried — and thus far failed — to evict him from.

“He’s so down and demoralized he hasn’t even been able to get himself motivated to take the dogs for a walk,” an insider allegedly told The Sun.

“He used to do it regularly but recently he can’t even bring himself to go out.”

The Duke of York shares custody of the dogs with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, 65. Though divorced, the former couple live together and both inherited the late Queen’s pups — Muick and Sandy — upon her death in September 2022 at the age of 96.

King of comedy.

King Charles hasn’t lost his sense of humor as he continues his battle with cancer.

The monarch, 76, joked that he’s “still alive” when he was asked about his health while meeting leaders from different faith communities at Waltham Forest Town Hall in the London neighborhood of Walthamstow on Friday.

Harvinder Rattan, a representative of the Sikh faith, asked, “Your Majesty, good morning, how are you?”

“I’m still alive, thank God,” Charles jokingly replied.

The king’s cheeky remark comes the same day palace sources confirmed to The Post that “his treatment has been moving in a positive direction.” The sources also noted that “as a managed condition, the treatment cycle will continue into next year.”

Princess Diana sometimes 'escaped' Christmas day celebrations with the royal family as soon as she could: expert

By Sean Mandell

Princess Diana reportedly did not enjoy spending Christmas with the royal family.

The late Princess of Wales, who died at the age of 36 in 1997 following a car crash, was eager to leave the Windsor clan's annual Christmas day gathering at Sandringham (the monarch's country estate in Norfolk) as soon as possible, according to royal biographer and "Majesty Magazine" editor-in-chief Ingrid Seward

"Diana used to always leave after lunch. When things were really not going at all well, she was to dread these royal family Christmases," she said on the latest episode of "The Sun’s Royal Exclusive" show.

“And she would always — and sometimes she escaped even before lunch and just did the church,” Seward added, referring to the royal family's traditional Christmas day walk to church.

Royal photographer Arthur Edwards agreed with Sewards' assessment. "Not always, but a few times I remember yes — I remember her passing me on the motorway coming back once," he said.

Notably, the royal family's Christmas gathering at Sandringham was the setting for Pablo Larraín's 2021 biopic about Diana, "Spencer," starring Kristen Stewart as the princess.

Prince William and Prince Harry's favorite childhood Christmas dessert revealed

By Sean Mandell

Prince William and Prince Harry reportedly had a favorite sweet treat they loved to indulge in every Christmas as children: meringues.

Carolyn Robb, the former head chef at Kensington Palace, told Town & Country that the meringues featured in her cookbook "Christmas at the Palace" were "probably the thing they’d have enjoyed the most."

"When Prince William and Prince Harry were young, we’d do Christmas baking and that," she said.

"Christmas is the time of year when everybody can get in the kitchen and cook as a family,” she added. “I always think it’s really good fun to do that with children."

The unexpected, cheeky gifts royal family members have given each other in Christmases past

By Kaydi Pelletier

From a singing big-mouth bass to a pair of fake bosoms, members of the royal family reportedly have a long history of exchanging unexpected, silly — even borderline scandalous — gifts on Christmas Eve.

When the late Queen Elizabeth II presided over the holiday, the family's gift exchange commenced at 6 p.m. sharp at Sandringham House, following her cherished afternoon tea at 4 p.m.

Despite the opening of presents taking place in the royal residence's elegant white drawing room, the tradition could become "a total uproar," as Princess Margaret's ex-husband Lord Snowdon once described it, according to royal biographer Andrew Morton.

Here are some of the gifts that have sent the family into seasonal stitches during Christmases past, according to Morton:

  • Prince Harry, who "has a track record of delivering the most entertaining surprises," once gave the Queen a shower cap with the printed phrase "Ain't life a bitch" on it
  • Another year, Harry gifted his grandmother a singing Big Mouth Billy Bass. The matriarch reportedly gave it a home atop the piano in her Balmoral study.
  • The late Princess Diana was once allegedly given a "pair of false bosoms." Morton did not disclose who the audacious gift-giver was.
  • Princess Anne once received a monogrammed door mat.
  • And Meghan Markle reportedly took a note from Harry one year, giving the Queen another singing animal novelty: a hamster.

Spice Girl Geri Halliwell congratulates husband on being honored by King Charles

By Alexandra Bellusci

Geri Halliwell is celebrating her husband.

The Spice Girls singer, 52, took a moment to honor her other half, Christian Horner, following his prestigious honor from King Charles ahead of Christmas.

Horner, 51, was named a Commander of the Order of the British Empire, with the Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team principal being appointed as a CBE in the civil division for his services to motorsport.

He accepted his medal from the King, 76, in an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

After the ceremony, Halliwell shared a photo of herself and Horner at the palace to Instagram.

"Today I had the honour of accompanying @christianhorner as he was made a Commander of the British Empire by his Majesty the King at Buckingham Palace," she wrote.

"As a family, we are all incredibly proud of everything you have achieved in your 20 years @redbullracing and I know the Team feel the same. You are a leader, an innovator and a pathfinder and this distinction is a reflection of your dedication and services to motorsport. Congratulations!"

Horner was recognized in King Charles' 2024 New Year Honours list, released last December and was celebrated alongside "Oppenheimer" director Christopher Nolan and his wife, producer Emma Thomas.

Horner told reporters it was "humbling" to receive the recognition from the King, and that the pair also chatted about F1.

"Obviously a very proud moment to be awarded this CBE," he said, per the Associated Press. "It’s very humbling."

"He was interested in how the season went, obviously followed some of the races," Horner added about their conversation. "So it was good to catch up."

King Charles’ cancer treatment will continue into the new year: ‘Moving in a positive direction’

By Alexandra Bellusci

King Charles’ health is on the mend.

After being diagnosed with cancer last February, the monarch, 76, began undergoing treatments during the 2024 year.

Palace sources confirmed on Friday to The Post that “his treatment has been moving in a positive direction, and as a managed condition the treatment cycle, will continue into next year.”

Plans are underway for a schedule of public work for Charles, similar to how the current year is closing out, including trips around the U.K. and abroad on the books.

Sky News was the first to report the update, with the outlet having a conversation with Dame Laura Lee, the chief executive of the cancer support charity Maggie’s.

“It’s very common for treatment to be ongoing for very long periods of time, as is the treatment that the Princess of Wales went through, which is an intense period of treatment over a year, and then it comes to a point where it’s on an end, and she’s on that recovery from some of the impacts of her treatment,” she explained.

By Sean Mandell

Princess Michael of Kent has spoken for the first time about her son-in-law Thomas Kingston’s shocking suicide.

The husband of Princess Michael’s daughter, Lady Gabriella Windsor, died on Feb. 25 at the age of 45. A gun was found next to his body, which was discovered at his parents’ home in the Cotswolds.

A coroner has said the cause of death was a “traumatic wound to the head.” The official also concluded that Kingston took his own life.

“We often had them here with Freddie and Sophie and the girls for Sunday lunch,” the princess added. In addition to Gabriella, Princess Michael is mother to Lord Frederick Windsor, 45, who has two young daughters with his wife, Sophie Winkleman, 44.

Princess Eugenie's son, 3, adorably snoozes in Santa hat en route to king's Christmas lunch

By Kaydi Pelletier

This tiny Santa is beat.

King Charles III held his annual pre-Christmas luncheon Thursday — one of the royals' many holiday traditions — with dozens of extended family members in attendance at Buckingham Palace.

One of the youngest royals, Princess Eugenie's son August "Augie," 3, was apparently tuckered out before the festivities even began, as he's seen in pictures of the family arriving at the Palace, buckled in the backseat wearing a Santa hat and fast asleep.

King Charles, Queen Camilla arrive at pre-Christmas lunch after Prince William and Kate Middleton pull out of event

By Sean Mandell

King Charles III and Queen Camilla were photographed arriving at Buckingham Palace on Thursday for the royal family’s annual pre-Christmas lunch, while Prince William and Kate Middleton were MIA.

The king and queen appear to have arrived in separate cars as they each made their way through the palace gates, which, while being the official residence of the British monarch, is not where Charles, 76, and Camilla, 77, live. The king and queen instead reside at Clarence House — a stone’s throw away from Buckingham Palace — where they lived before Charles ascended the throne.

Camilla was all smiles as she waved to the cameras, and onlookers gathered to catch a glimpse of the royals.

For the last two years, King Charles hosted the pre-Christmas luncheon at Windsor Castle. His mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, traditionally chose Buckingham Palace as the venue for the luncheon, attended by 70 or so guests.

This year marks the first in Charles’ reign that the luncheon returned to the palace.

Notably absent from the festive gathering were Prince William, 42, Kate Middleton, 42, and their children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.

On Thursday, it was revealed that the Prince and Princess of Wales would be skipping the luncheon, opting to spend the beginning of the Christmas holiday with their children at Anmer Hall — the couple’s Anglesey home in Norfolk, England.
