Queen Camilla was presented with an Admiral's Burgee pennant to mark her being made a vice admiral, during a garden party for the HMS Astute Ship's Company and their families at HMS Drake, HMNB Devonport in Plymouth, England, on Wednesday.

The royal, 77, is also HMH Astute's Lady Sponsor, according to reports.

The celebration marked the end of the submarine's first commission, which is the longest first commission of any Royal Navy submarine in history, at over 15 years.

The submarine was named by the then Duchess of Cornwall in 2007. 

HMS Astute is the lead submarine in the Royal Navy's fleet of Ship Submerged Nuclear (SSN) or 'Attack' Submarines.

Queen Camilla attended the Children's Hospice South West's 30th anniversary at Little Bridge House in Barnstaple, England, on Wednesday.

The royal, 77, was seen greeting patrons, staff, and family members when she arrived.

Her Majesty, wearing a long royal blue dress, even played air hockey with a few of the teenagers.

This is Queen Camilla's second time visiting a children's hospice. She said that during her first visit, she thought they would be sad places, “but they are completely uplifting."

Children's Hospice South West is celebrating its 30th anniversary of providing care for babies, children, and young adults with life-limiting conditions, while also giving support to their families.

Prince William and Kate Middleton were not in the know about last week’s rumored peace talks between Prince Harry’s communications team and King Charles’ press rep, according to insiders.

The Prince and Princess of Wales’s press reps were notably absent from the top-secret meeting that featured Meredith Maines and Liam Maguire, who head up the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s communication team, and Tobyn Andreae, the monarch’s communications secretary.

According to palace insiders, the future king’s team was not notified about the secret meet-up.

King Felipe of Spain attended the presentation of Royal Orders to the newest officers at the General Air and Space Academy earlier this week.

The monarch, 57, was accompanied by the Colonel Director to preside over one of the most "significant moments of the ceremony," according to the Spanish royal family's official statement.

At the ceremony, Felipe read "the orders for promotion to lieutenant and the presentation of the Royal Dispatches to the first officers of their respective corps and ranks, as well as the awarding of decorations," the palace said.

The event, held at the Plaza de Armas in Murcia, took place on the same day the King's daughter, Princess Leonor, 19, received the title of "Adopted Daughter of Marín.”

Felipe was awarded the prestigious "Adopted Son of Marín" title back in 1986.

Queen Camilla beamed from ear to ear in a newly-shared snap of her new rescue pup, Moley.

The snap, taken at Her Majesty's private home, showed the queen holding her beloved furry friend that moved in with the royals in February.

Camilla posted the image on social media after she visited a garden unveiling at the Battersea Cats and Dogs Home, from where she rescued Moley earlier this year.

Her pooch did not attend the garden unveiling.

"It was a fantastic afternoon at @Battersea - we are so grateful for all that you do! 🐾 ," the royal family's official Instagram account captioned the sweet snap.

"Whilst Moley was keeping cool at home, she wishes she could have been reunited with some of her old friends!"

King Charles' Swan Upping, an annual five-day "census of swans" that belong to the monarch, is happening this week on the River Thames in England.

Yep, a swan census. So what is that, exactly?

Here's how the pomp and circumstance goes (swimmingly, usually):

Oarsmen, also known as Swan Uppers, row along the river for five days, roaring "All up!" when they spot a swan. The Swan Uppers then carefully approach the swan, lift it from the water and check for any signs of injury or disease before moving on to the next swan.

The backstory: Since the 12th century, Britain's reigning monarch has held the right to claim ownership of swans that swim in the open waters of the UK, thus giving the king the title "Lord of the Swans."

So yes, Lord of the Swans is one of King Charles III's lesser known titles.

Swans were once a delicacy in the UK served at honorable events. But today, they're a protected species, transforming the Swan Upping from simply a ceremonial event to a wildlife conservation effort.

“It gives us an indication of what’s going on throughout the country,” the king’s Swan Marker of 30 years, David Barber, told the UK's The Independent.

“It’s a tradition, but I think it’s serving a very useful purpose as well.”

There's lots of symbolism, naturally, at this royal event, where oarsmen wear scarlet red shirts to represent the king, or striped white-and-blue shirts to represent the Worshipful Company of Dyers, paired with white shorts to represent the Worshipful Company of Vintners.

Both Worshipful companies have owned the UK's swans since the 15th century. The country's swans' beaks were once marked to distinguish which were owned by the king, the Dyers or the Vintners.

Unfortunately, over the past two years, swan numbers have dwindled in the UK, mainly due to avian flu outbreaks but also from an increase in human activity in the rivers destroying their natural habitats, Barber said.

The 2024 Swan Upping saw a 45% decrease in young swan findings from 2023, with only 86 young swans spotted last year.

However, by EOD Monday, the first day of this year's Swan Upping, oarsmen had already found 16.

The event will continue until Friday, with oarsmen rowing from Sunbury to Abingdon, about an 80-mile trek.

King Charles himself hasn't turned out for the Swan Upping — His Majesty was scheduled to welcome India's Men's and Women's Test cricket team at Clarence House, his Westminster, London residence.

Prince Harry has jetted off to Angola where he’ll walk across explosive landmine sites as part of his work for the Halo Trust charity.

The Duke of Sussex, 40, was notably solo when he landed in Central Africa Tuesday morning — as it emerged that his wife, Meghan Markle, stayed home in Montecito, Calif., for “safety” reasons, according to the Daily Mail.

Harry — who, like his late mother Princess Diana, has previously visited active landmine sites — arrived at Luanda airport before boarding a small aircraft to the danger zones.

The “Spare” author, who became patron of the charity in 2019, is expected to walk across the same terrain as his mother did 28 years ago.

The late princess famously walked through a landmine field in 1997 a flak jacket and helmet just months before her untimely death later that year.

King Charles welcomed India's Men's and Women's Test cricket team at Clarence House on Tuesday afternoon, where he offered his sympathy after the team's loss to England after five days of play.

The monarch, 76, welcomed cricket stars Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant and Captain Shubman Gill to the London-based royal residence, where the group exchanged laughs and cricket anecdotes before posing for a photo together.

Charles, who is head of the Commonwealth, came just one day after England emerged victorious over India in a nail-biting match-up, which the king admitted he found "exciting."

"The King did tell us that the way our last batsman got out was quite unfortunate -- the ball rolling on the stumps, and he was just asking us how did we feel after that," Gill said of the group's conversation with Charles.

"And we told him it was an unfortunate match for us, but it could have gone either way and hopefully we'll have better luck in both the next games."

Prince Harry broke a “cardinal rule” in the lead up to last week’s secret peace talks between his communications team and King Charles’s press rep, according to a royal expert.

Royal commentator Charlotte Griffiths claims the Duke of Sussex breached a fundamental royal protocol by publicly discussing private matters concerning his estranged family.

After Harry aired out his family’s dirty laundry on several public platforms — including the bombshell 2021 sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey, his and Meghan Markle’s tell-all Netflix series, and his memoir “Spare,” the king is now very cautious when interacting with his youngest son, Griffiths claims.

“I think he would be willing to meet his demands and it is a pretty simple demand, it is ‘if I talk to you, can it not leak out on Oprah Winfrey or any other program?'” Griffiths said of the king’s requirements for any future communication with the exiled royal.

“Harry really wants reconciliation and to be able to freely speak to his father, at the moment he cannot get through to his father, he has to go through his aides.”

“What will definitely happen is some ground rules for communications. What Harry cannot do is repeat what goes on in private conversations,” she added.

King Charles and Prince Harry’s aides were spotted together for a secret meeting last week in what is the strongest signal yet that both camps are ready to put an end to their years-long feud.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s reps, Meredith Maines and Liam Maguire, were seen sitting down for secret talks with Tobyn Andreae, the monarch’s communications secretary, the Daily Mail reported.

Images obtained by the outlet showed Maines, who had flown into London from Montecito, Calif., for the meeting, with Maguire and Andreae, though the nature of the conversation was not immediately clear.
