Royal expert Katie Nicholl explained in her book "The Making of a Royal Romance: William, Kate, and Harry — A Look Behind the Palace Walls," how William's connection to his father impacted his decision to get down on one knee for Kate.

"For a young man who has an inherent fear of tomorrow, this was not easy for William, but the tranquil backdrop of the island was as good place as any to discuss it," Nicholl wrote about the couple discussing their future during a trip to Desroches after they got back together.

"William, who had inherited something of his father's fear of commitment, knew he would lose Kate if he could not give her some form of guarantee," who reassured Kate that while he was not ready to ask the big question immediately, a proposal would come in time.

The now Prince and Princess of Wales would be engaged three years later, and officially wed on  April 29, 2011.

Princess Leonor is back in Spain after spending six months on a Navy training ship.

The 19-year-old royal — who is the heir to the Spanish throne, followed by her younger sister, Sofia — docked at the port of El Musel in Gijón on Thursday.

Her parents, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, did not attend her homecoming due to prior engagements.

King Felipe VI was scheduled to speak at the National Research Awards while Queen Letizia attended a meeting at a Spanish non-profit organization.

Princess Leonor departed for the voyage around the world in January 2025. 

Her trip on the Spanish Navy training ship included a stop in New York City in early June.

Royal tea time looks a little different as a mom.

Catherine, Princess of Wales, was seen carrying a mug of tea during her visit to the Colchester Hospital in Essex yesterday.

"As a parent, you know you'll keep losing your cup of tea," the royal joked.

The princess shares her three kids, George, 11; Charlotte, 10; and Louis, 7, with her husband, William, Prince of Wales. 

Kate toured the facility’s garden and spoke with staff and patients.

"It's not just the patients, it's the family too," Kate said at the medical center about recovery.

"It's not just the cancer care, treatment, healing, it's about the whole person - mind, body and spirit. We know now that all those three dimensions matter to the recovery journey."

Kate has been vocal about her life post-cancer treatment.

“You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment. Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,’ but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult,” the princess said.

King Charles III, 76, visited Campbeltown, Scotland for the third day of Holyrood Week on July 3, 2025.

Holyrood Week, also known as "Royal Week," is an annual celebration in which the monarch travels across different regions of Scotland to connect with the Scottish culture and community.

Charles visited an array of local businesses, such as the NC McGeachy butchers shop and Campbeltown's Farmers Market where he witnessed a sheep being sheared.

The King also had the chance to taste a 25-year-old Glen Scotia Single Malt whiskey during a Campbeltown Town Hall reception where he met town locals. Campbeltown residents lined up down Main Street to meet the King while he was in town.

Holyrood Week kicked off Tuesday in Edinburg, Scotland, where the Ceremony of the Keys took place in the gardens of the Palace of Holyroodhouse. The ceremony features the Lord Provost of Edinburg gifting the King the keys to the city as a welcome, followed by a Garden Party.

The next day, King Charles visited Kirkcaldy, Scotland, where he visited the Kirkcaldy War Memorial and shook hands with locals.

Prince William is paying tribute to Portugal soccer star Diogo Jota after the pro athlete's shocking death at just 28 years old.

Jota, who played for Liverpool Football Club and the Portugal national team, died in a car crash Thursday — alongside his younger brother — when his Lamborghini veered off a road in Spain, 11 days after he married the mother of his three children.

"As part of the footballing family, I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Diogo Jota and his brother," Prince William wrote on social media. "Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who knew him."

The royal's mother, Princess Diana, died in a crash that shocked the world in August 1997 as the limousine she was riding in was being chased by paparazzi.
