COOPER RE-UPS AT CNN
ANDERSON Cooper has inked a deal to remain at CNN for the forseeable future.
Cooper, rumored as a candidate for CBS’ struggling “Early Show,” signed a deal doubling his annual salary to $4 million, according to Broadcasting & Cable.
Under the new deal, he’ll continue contributing to CBS’ “60 Minutes,” insiders told B&C.
Cooper, 39, is considered the face of CNN’s prime-time schedule.
He hosts “Anderson Cooper 360,” which boosted its ratings in the coveted news demo of adults 25-54 by 30 percent last month.
Cooper’s name had been bandied about as a possible “Early Show” replacement for Rene Syler, who left in December.
Cooper’s relationship with CBS continues a long tradition between the networks.
At one time, CNN’s Christiane Amanpour reported for “60 Minutes” – and former CBS anchor Dan Rather filled in on “Larry King Live.”
