THE brother of “American Idol” winner David Cook, Adam, died early yesterday morning after a well-publicized fight with brain cancer, according to a report on the star’s Web site.
The singer, who had suspended his tour last month when the end seemed near, was not there when his older brother passed away shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday at a hospice in Terre Haute, Ind.
Cook had gone back on the road two weeks ago, when Adam seemed to rally. But, according to reports, the brother took a turn for the worse over the weekend.
Adam Cook, 36, a lawyer who leaves behind two young children and a wife, made news last year when friends chipped in for a $45,000 medical-jet charter to take him to LA to see David perform on “Idol.”
Funeral arrangements were not immediately available.
Cook, who had been performing in Florida over the weekend, was reportedly on his way back to Indiana yesterday.
According to his site, the singer has several concert dates set for this week in Georgia, Kentucky and Ohio.
