The fame of newly-minted “American Idol” favorite Crystal Bowersox has turned her Ohio hometown upside-down.
The Sandusky Register, Bowersox’s hometown paper, says that “celebrity gossip magazines” and Web sites are “digging for all the dirt they can find” on Bowersox, who’s become the odds-on favorite to win this season of “Idol” as the show heads into its final month.
The paper said that a reporter from The National Enquirer even called, “looking for tips” about the whereabouts of Bowersox’s infant son, just days after “Idol” host Ryan Seacrest said he talked Bowersox into staying on the show after a backstage meltdown (which she later denied through a friend).
Rumors have been swirling that Bowersox is engaged, pregnant or both (both of which she denied in an interview with the Toledo Blade).
