‘Daisy’ chain
In the new, more mainstream “Pushing Daisies,” Chuck (Anna Friel) goes undercover as a “Bee Girl” at a honey-based cosmetics company after their new spokesmodel (Autumn Reeser) is stung to death. She soon discovers that office politics are killer between the founder (Missi Pyle) and the new owner (French Stewart). Meanwhile, Ned (Lee Pace) can’t stand her growing independence – or the fact that she wants to move out of his apartment. In other developments, Lily (Swoosie Kurtz) spirits Olive (Kristen Chenoweth) off to a nunnery so she won’t spill Lily’s secret.

Laughs from ‘Britain’
British sketch comedy artists Matt Lucas and David Walliams adapt their hit show “Little Britain” for American audiences on HBO. The collaborators met at the National Youth Theatre in 1990 and developed their show first for the radio before landing on the BBC. In the first of six episodes, they play a variety of peculiar and singularly English characters, including tourists Lou and Andy, who visit a Mississippi motel; rude hospital receptionist Carol Beer, astronaut Bing Gordyn, a married couple, George and Sandra and two pumped-up gym buddies, Mark and Tom. Rosie O’Donnell and Sting make cameo appearances.

Smoking Gunn
Now that “Project Runway” is winding down, it’s time for that show’s mentor, Tim Gunn, to start up the second season of his fashion series for ordinary mortals. In each episode of “Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style,” Gunn will use his counseling skills to turn the fashion weary into polished individuals. Joining Gunn as his new “fashion accomplice” this season is Gretta Monahan, fashion expert, personal stylist and owner of Grettacole Spas, Salons and Gretta Luxe Boutiques. Gunn and Monahan won’t be making anyone over – with guidance, they’ll help people make themselves over. The series utilizes several tools to help a diverse set of women make themselves over, including full body scans and life-size CG modeling. As with all Bravo shows, episodes will go heavy on product placement as Monahan uses her access to celebrity hair and makeup artists.

Future ‘Desperate’
There are some new men on Wisteria Lane this fall. Gale Harold from “Queer As Folk” plays Susan’s (Teri Hatcher) new boyfriend and Neal McDonough plays Edie’s (Nicollette Sheridan). The biggest change of all this season is a leap of time: “Desperate Housewives” moves five years into the future. Lynette Scavo’s brats are troublemaking teenagers now. Bree (Marcia Cross) has a great success as a Martha Stewart-type television personality who’s on the verge of publishing her own cookbook. Her business partner, Katherine Mayfair (Dana Delany), is a tad envious, of course. It wouldn’t be Wisteria Lane if everyone were getting along.

Death of an ad man
Alcoholic copywriter Freddie Rumsen (Joel Murray) has a moment of such excruciating personal embarrassment on this week’s episode of “Mad Men” that Pete Campbell (Vincent Kartheiser) campaigns to have him fired from Sterling Cooper. As a man who’s already in the doghouse, Don Draper (Jon Hamm) argues for leniency, but Roger Sterling (Jon Slattery) says Rumsen must go. The send-off is an all-night event, culminating in a violent gambling session in an after-hours joint. Meanwhile, Betty Draper (January Jones) digs her heels in deeper. She won’t let Don come home.

For Dexter (Michael C. Hall), life seems to be going well. His relationship with Rita (Julie Benz) and her kids is back on track. He’s no longer under scrutiny at his day job as a blood spatter analyst for Miami Metro Homicide. And his night job as a serial killer is operating on all cylinders. So when he sets his sights on Freebo (Mike Erwin), a dope dealer and killer, it looks to be just another night dark justice. But things don’t go as planned. Dexter also finds himself inexorably drawn to Miguel Prado (Jimmy Smits), an Assistant District Attorney, who has a very personal reason to bring Freebo to justice.
