A weekly guide to TV’s best and worst one-hour shows
Apparently, guest stars rule, as evidenced by the number of them in charge this week:
* “The Good Wife” (Tuesday, 10 p.m., CBS) The previous episode was a bit of a letdown when Will weaseled out and lied about his voicemail admission of love for Alicia, but it does allow the whole will-they-or-won’t-they thing to simmer for a couple episodes. Which leaves plenty of time for the guest stars on the docket for next week, including Jerry Stiller, whose sleepy judge promises to make the court scenes much more entertaining. Stiller is joined by Gary Cole, returning as Diane’s hilarious on-again, off-again love interest whom she must now defend, and America Ferrera as the illegal nanny working for Peter’s political rival.
* “The Defenders” (Friday, 8 p.m., CBS). Jim Belushi nabbed fellow Blues Brother Dan Aykroyd to portray a judge on his surprisingly good law drama — as opposed to when Aykroyd guest starred on Belushi’s amazingly awful comedy, “According to Jim.”
* “CSI” (Thursday, 9 p.m., CBS) Another sign “CSI” has lived well past its sell-by date, the show is forced to recycle guest stars. Megan Gallagher, whom Mama loved as one of Larry’s exes on “The Larry Sanders Show,” was originally a “CSI” guest star in 2002 in a different role. But tonight, she’s a judge who presides over the murder case of Justin Bieber.
* “Castle” (Monday, 10 p.m., ABC) Adrian Pasdar, the highlight of the “Heroes” series, arrives as a federal agent who takes over Castle and Beckett’s case in a two-parter starting Monday. Why doesn’t this guy have his own show already?
