SACRED PLANET

‘SACRED Planet” is a beautifully shot and well-meant – but fairly snoozy – IMAX nature documentary that’s being opened by Disney today to coincide with Earth Day.

Director Jon Long’s large-format cameras offers such remote sights as the old-growth forests of British Columbia, the glaciers of Alaska, the red rock canyons of the American Southwest, tropical rainforests in Borneo, ancient ruins in Thailand, and remote deserts in Namibia.

For contrast, there is stop-motion photography of various cities.

Robert Redford delivers the tree-hugger narration, which, like the film, seems squarely aimed at 8-year-olds.

Running time: 45 minutes. Rated G. At the Lincoln Square IMAX, Broadway and West 68th Street.
