Shogun's huge night

By Lauren Sarner

The epic FX/Hulu historical drama “Shogun” had a huge night, taking home the Best Actor and Best Actress in a drama series, respectively, for stars Anna Sawai and Hiroyuki Sanada, and the top prize for Best Drama Series, beating "The Crown" on the latter show's last year.

Set in 17th century Japan, the show earned a whopping 25 Emmy nominations, making history as the first Japanese-language show to earn a Best Drama Series nomination.

The audience was thrilled for the show's stars — Idris Elba, who was also up for a Best Actor nomination (for his Apple show "Hijack") and lost to Sanada, got up and hugged his rival as he walked to the stage, visibly happy for the Japanese actor.

When Sawai, 32, won, she walked to the stage in her dazzling red gown, crying. The room gave her a standing ovation.

Hollywood is all-in on "Shogun."
