FRENCH FILM OPENS FEST
AGNES Jaoui’s French comedy “Look at Me” will open this year’s New York Film Festival on Oct. 1.
Winner of the screenplay award at the Cannes Film Festival, it co-stars Jaoui and her screenwriting partner, Jean-Pierre Bacri in a story about an overweight 20-year-old singer.
The Lincoln Center festival’s centerpiece will be Pedro Almodovar’s “Bad Education,” a Spanish mystery-thriller about two friends who are reunited in the 1980s.
The festival will close on Oct. 17 with “Sideways,” a comedy by Alexander Payne (“About Schmidt”) starring Thomas Hayden Church and Paul Giamatti.
The rest of the slate will be announced in late August.
