Last night’s World Series game — when the Yankees won their 27th world championship — was seen by an estimated 22.3 million viewers, capping the best ratings for a Series since the Boston Red Sox won it in 2004 after an 86-year drought.
The final night audience matches last Sunday night’s game as the most watched game of this series.
Because the World Series did not go seven games, the average audience size for the series as a whole likely won’t break 20 million, but it should get very close.
No matter, it is way than last year’s record low ratings. Estimates are that the final ratings, due out shortly, will be at least 40 percent higher than the 2008 Phils-Devil Rays series,
