Discovery said yesterday that it was filming when a team of treasure hunters found approximately 48 tons of silver bullion at the bottom of the Atlantic this week.

The silver — worth nearly $38 million at today’s prices — was aboard a World War II British cargo ship that was torpedoed by the Nazis in February 1941.

It is believed to be biggest treasure ever found on a shipwreck.

The discovery will be made into a TV special to air early next year.
