JUMPIN’
JALOPY: Red Hook’s Jalopy Theatre is the place to be this weekend for funky, folksy family fun, including super-talented songstress the Good Ms. Padgett and a performance by the Ukuladies. 3:30 p.m., $8 per individual, $25 for a family of four. 315 Columbia St., between Woodhull Street and Hamilton Avenue, Brooklyn; 718-395-3214, jalopy.biz
AMBLE ON: Admission is free at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden today for “Amble: BBG’s June Jubilee.” Celebrate the new “Urban Garden” exhibit with window-box gardening workshops, live ragtime music, botanical aromatherapy demonstrations, snacks and more. Kids get to take home their own lemon balm plants. Noon to 6 p.m., 990 Washington Ave., at Crown Street; 718-623-7200, bbg.org
WEIRD SCIENCE: Any kid who thinks science is boring should head straight to the fifth annual World Science Festival, where the “robot petting zoo,” stargazing workshop and up-close look at “hidden” East River marine life are guaranteed to make the subject more interesting. The festival is taking place all over the city, so times, locations and prices vary. Call 212-348-1400 or check out worldsciencefestival.com
TOMORROW
DOWN ON THE FARM: There’s no need to leave the city for an authentic farm experience. At the 14th Street Y’s “Farm in the City” fair, kids can pet real rabbits and chickens, check out a beekeeping exhibit and get their faces painted. Visitors are invited to come dressed as farmers (or farm animals!). 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., $25 per family. 344 E. 14th St., between First and Second avenues; 212-780-0800, 14streety.org
PUPPET-PALOOZA: Way more sophisticated than your average puppet show, “Labapalooza! Puppet Fest” at St. Ann’s Warehouse features avant-garde pieces such as “The Yellow Wallpaper” (a combination of “Pinocchio” and “The Old Man and the Sea”) and is best for ages 7 and up. 2 and 8 p.m., $20. 38 Water St., DUMBO, Brooklyn; 718-254-8779, stannswarehouse.org
