Matt Damon says he has no interest in running for political office in an interview with New York magazine published Thursday.
The 40-year-old star of “Good Will Hunting” and the Jason Bourne movies, told the magazine that despite his interest in politics, acting remained his number one love.
“I don’t think I have an interest in politics any more than anybody else does, or should,” Damon said. “I mean, we should kind of know what these guys are doing. We’ve elected them to run the country, so we have to pay attention. That doesn’t mean I would want to go into politics!”
Damon was interviewed by the magazine at the New York City premiere of his new movie “Contagion.”
“I have a job, I love my job, and I wouldn’t really be interested in that,” Damon said when asked if he planned to one day run for office.
Damon was one of President Barack Obama biggest celebrity supporters in 2008 but has since criticized the president, saying that he felt “a little let down” and “disappointed” by his policies since entering office.
