Bookish beauty sks poised partner

MEET Sonia, a luscious 39-year-old executive manager who describes herself as “attractive, down-to-earth, real and a bit more ‘bookwise’ than streetwise.” Sonia can’t live without “my daughter, air and water.” When she’s not working, she loves to “cook, sleep, read, listen to music, work out, take long walks and explore.”

What kind of lucky gent is Sonia seeking? “Someone who is people-savvy and smart.” She craves a man with “poise, elegance, sophistication, etiquette and the ability to hold their own presence in a crowd, and the ability to trust his woman (i.e., a nonstalker!).”

Her worst date ever, unbelievably, “ate almost everything off my plate … without asking me.”

If we were to ask her best friend about what kind of man they would like to see her with, they’d say “somebody who can treat a woman right, who can recognize her importance as an equal part of a family (or romantic) unit, somebody who can make me feel protected and special yet also make me feel like I am not inferior because I am a woman. In short, somebody who is tender, loving, caring, patient, and can give and receive affection and love.”

Check in next week to see which of the following fellows Sonia chose, and how their date went.

Jerome, 39, trainer

What do you like to do for fun? Exercising, reading, spending time with my kids, and riding my motorcycle.

How would you describe yourself? Extroverted, complex, inquisitive, intellectual, and physical.

What was your worst date experience? While on a date, I told a girl how old I was. It turned out I was 14 years her senior, she turnedwhite as a sheet and bounced.

What would be your ideal date? On a beautiful summer night, dinner in a quiet garden restaurant, followed by a stroll through the park, dessert and coffee at a cafe, then partythe night away dancing at a club/lounge.

David, 33, service rep

How would you describe yourself? Tall, handsome, funny, sweet, a gentleman who holds the door. A little rough around the edges, but we all are that way, sometimes.

What would you like to find in a relationship? Someone affectionate, not afraid to hug and kiss in public. I’m looking for a woman who is romantic, likes hand-holding, and who’s able to share a private joke. Someone tall, with some curves, who knows how to kiss and cuddle. Someone who has a strong set of values and invites God into the relationship as well.

What’s sexy? Beauty is a huge turn-on. Not just the physical aspect of it. You should look good, but beauty should radiate from within. A spirit, if you will, that can be felt from anyplace in the world.

What are your turnoffs? Anyone who concentrates on the negatives in life. Someone who carries work with them wherever they are. People who have lost their sense of wonder in life.

Rob, 39, editor

How would you describe yourself? I would say that I am smart, funny and decent.

What would be your ideal date? I’d like to go to some kind of cool attraction, like the Bronx Zoo or Coney Island.

If we were to ask your best friend about what kind of woman they’d like to see you with, what would they say?Someone who is supportive and who’s a good friend and companion.

What three things can you not live without? My computer, my CD collection, and my television.
