Legendary “Star Wars” character Obi-Wan Kenobi wasn’t killed by Darth Vader in the movie’s original script, the actor who played Chewbacca revealed.

In the famous scene from the 1977 film, Vader strikes down Obi-Wan after a dramatic lightsaber battle — saddening nerds across the galaxy.

But in a first draft of the screenplay, the Jedi teacher survives the fight, rejoins the gang and escapes the Death Star, according to Peter Mayhew, the voice behind Chewbacca.

Mayhew posted photos of the script on Twitter, describing the alternate ending Tuesday.

“Obi-wan lives through his fight with Vader. Check it out,” he wrote.

In the original script, Vader still tells Obi-Wan, “You powers are weak … old man,” but Kenobi blocks Vader’s lightsaber and traps Darth in a tunnel on the Death Star.
